Steam discovering existing files then completely re-downloads game

Oct 8, 2019 I have bad internet so I can not download Steam games at home. the Steam game onto my home Desktop from my laptop without having to re-download it. If you already have it then make sure the game is fully updated. After a few dialogs a window should pop up that says “Discovering existing files”.

May 10, 2017 Steam has a built-in system for making a backup of its game files, so you don't have to re-download a full game every time you Manually copying the files out of Steam's game folder, then copying them back when you're ready to Steam examines the game folder, “discovers” the files are already there,
